Rosacea Symptoms and Steps to Treat and Prevent

What is Rosacea?

If your face looks like you’re blushing and you get bumps that are a bit like acne, you might have a skin condition called rosacea. Your doctor can suggest medicine and other treatments to manage your symptoms, and there are plenty of steps you can take at home to make yourself look and feel better.

Rosacea Symptoms

The biggest thing you’ll notice is redness on your cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead. Less often, the color can appear on your neck, head, ears, or chest. After a while, broken blood vessels might show through your skin, which can thicken and swell up. Up to half of people with rosacea also get eye problems like redness, swelling, and pain.

Other symptoms you may get are:

  • Stinging and burning of your skin
  • Patches of rough, dry skin
  • A swollen, bulb-shaped nose
  • Larger pores
  • Broken blood vessels on your eyelids
  • Bumps on your eyelids
  • Problems with seeing

Your rosacea symptoms can come and go. They might flare up for a few weeks, fade, and then come back. If you don’t take care of your rosacea, redness and swelling can get worse and might become permanent.

Pure Peony’s Rosacea Skin Steps

If you suffer from Rosacea or Rosacea Acne here is how we can help you.  “This Pure peony cream is also brilliant for rosacea not just eczema. It is soothing, reduces the redness and itching, and also helps keep my skin soft and hydrated. There are very few products around for rosacea other than harsh anti-acne creams. The peony root is a wonderful alternative to these.” Helga

“After 4-6 weeks of using the range of products (soap/creme/shampoo) on my face for rosacea the change is spectacular. I was at my wits end. My face now has a mild blush to it – not the angry/welted/weeping mess it used to be. Can’t thank you enough” De

Step 1 – Keeping your face moisturised

Keep the skin on your face moisturised with a hypoallergenic, non-perfumed moisturiser such as Pure Peony High Factor Peony Root Skin Remedy. This will reduce inflammation and help ease your symptoms as Peony extract is known to reduce redness and used for many pigmentation issues as a skin lightener. This means your face will look calmer and less inflamed as well as feel moisturised and hydrated.  If your skin is very very dry our Peony Root Moisturiser can also be used.  It has less of the active in the peony root but additional natural moisturizing ingredients like shea butter and borage seed oil.

Step 2 – Sunblock every day

One of the common irritants for Rosacea is sunshine. Remember everyday to use a strong sunblock at all times of year. We don’t currently make a sunblock but we always use a hypoallergenic 50+ sunscreen.

Step 3 – Rosacea Acne

Remember to use a natural hypoallergenic product to cleanse your face and help heal your acne. We recommend our Pure Peony Acne Face Mask.  You can use it as often as you like and it won’t dry your face out so you will still feel moisturised but it will help calm your inflamation and heal any blemishes you have. Remember to apply our Pure Peony High Factor Peony Root Skin Remedy after you use the Pure Peony Facemask if you want more hydration.
